In most cases we are talking of manual focus lenses, but also autofocus options are hitting the market.

The Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 is the first AF lens for Fujifilm (and FujiRumors delivered the worldwide first autofocus test about it). And we already reported in this article, that Viltrox is considering to launch 3 more AF lenses for Fujifilm soon. Since its launch, the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 is the best selling third party lens here on FujiRumors.

Fujifilm GFX100 Firmware 1.01 Released

Fujifilm just released Fujifilm GFX100 firmware ver. 1.01.

The firmware update Ver.1.01 from Ver.1.00 incorporates the following issues:

  1. Stability improvement of operability when the GFX100 is connected to an external power supply via a USB cable.
  2. Improvement of connectivity with smartphones and tablets when “WIRELESS COM. FREQUENCY SETTING” is set to 5GHz.

Fujifilm X-T3 Weather Sealing Tested with Excellent Results, as Opposed to Sony A7rIII

Imaging Resorce has now added their weather sealing test to their Fujifilm X-T3 review, with excellent results!

They give it a rating of 4 (with 1 being the worst and 5 the best)

Their conclusion:

Overall, the Fujifilm X-T3 seems to be very well-sealed against the weather. It passed our standard 35-minute “heavy rain” test with flying colors, and whilst its touch screen didn’t work when wet, its eye-detect EVF sensor worked throughout. Beyond that, it stood up to just under 40 minutes of the same soaking the day after, impressive given that its gaskets would already have been pretty wet from the first day’s test. And even after this extreme soaking, it returned to full functioning after just overnight drying.

Bottom line, the Fujifilm X-T3 has very good weather-sealing, and we’d have no qualms about using it for short intervals in heavy rain, and for longer periods of time in light rain or drizzle.

There is a difference between being weather sealed only on paper or in real life, right Sony? (video below) ;)

Fujifilm GFX100 Sets New Benchmark in DPReview Studio Scene

The first test was flawed, so DPReview had to update its Fujifilm GFX100 studio test scene

They now published the new results, and in their own words:

“As you can see, the camera is extremely sharp and capable of resolving nearly everything in our test scene. Many of the finest targets that exhibit aliasing on the already impressive GFX 50R (shot with the same lens) are more convincingly resolved by the 100MP camera, meaning that its images look better than the older camera’s shots do, even when downscaled to the same resolution.”

In short: it’s the best camera ever tested, and they now borrowed a 150MP Phase One IQ4 to try to beat it!

Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.0 Listed for $2,350 at Romanian Store

A Romanian store has the Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.0 R WR listed at their store for $2,350. That’s definitely a better price than the $3,100 listed at the Czech store a few months ago here.

Now, I think that this is just a price holder and not based on real information they have. But it’s a good opportunity for us to talk about the XF 33mm f/1.0 pricing.

UPDATE: Mistral75 said in the comments:

The ROn 9,899.99 price includes the Romanian VAT (19%). You have to subtract the VAT amount to compute a USD price. The result is $1,976.84, say $1,999 when rounded.

The Right Price

In my opinion, Fujifilm must price the Fujinon XF33mm f/1.0 very aggressively, and as our Fujifilm XF 33m f/1.0 recommended price poll showed, already a $2,000 price tag would be a deal breaker for many.

The brand new full frame Panasonic Lumix S PRO 50mm f/1.4, which is an XF33mm f/1.0 equivalent, costs $2,300.

So Fujifilm can, under no circumstances, sell it higher than $2,300. But also, they should show the advantage of APS-C by pricing it lower than the Panasonic 50mm f/1.4.

And if Fujifilm thinks to set a higher price at the beginning, for later on offering some deals on it, then I allow myself to tell Fujifilm (who reads this blog and even adds those lenses to their roadmap, that the FujiRumors community recommended them to make), that this is a bad idea.

Just set a great price right from the start, and don’t launch any deals on it for a long time. You will start making money with this lens immediatly, instead of having to wait several months for finally selling it.

Considering the Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 sells for $1,000, anything between $1,200 and $1,500 would be a good price for the Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.0.

Dear Fujifilm, many credit cards (mine included) are ready to suffer right at announcement day. So don’t let this surely marvellous piece of lens engineering sit in warehouses unsold by setting a too high price tag.
