Let’s Talk Fujifilm X-E Line Future

With the Fujifilm X-E4 now discontinued after 2 years only and hardly available at all over the last 2 years, it’s time to talk quickly about the future of the Fujifilm X-E line.

Is there any hope that the line will continue.

In the video above I will list you two reasons why we should be optimistic about a Fujifilm X-E5, but also mention a few points that could induce Fujifilm to cancel the line.

CURIOSITY: Fujifilm Switzerland Shows X-Pro3 without Hidden but Regular Tilt LCD Screen – UPDATE

UPDATE: Error is now fixed

Here is a weekend curiosity:

Fujifilm Switzerland is currently showing a Fujifilm X-Pro3 with a normal tilt LCD screen rather than with the hidden LCD.

I have no idea why they decided to photoshop the mini-LCD away and replace it with a regular one.

Some will speculate that Fujifilm is now preparing for a Fujifilm X-Pro3 MKII with normal tilt LCD. Well, I have no information about such a camera coming. Nor have I information about the Fujifilm X-Pro4.

Let’s see how long it takes for Fujifilm Switzerland to fix it. Or maybe they are preparing for April 1? ;)

DxO PureRAW 3 and PhotoLab 6.4 Released with DeepPRIME XD Fujifilm X-Trans Support

DxO has released DxO PureRAW 3 as well as DxO PhotoLab 6.4

They both come with welcome improvements and finally also with DxO DeepPRIME XD (eXtreme Detail) support for Fujifilm X-Trans cameras.

Until today, DeepPRIME XD did not process RAW files from cameras with an X-Trans sensor. However, with DxO PureRAW 3, Fujifilm X Series photographers will be delighted to learn that their cameras are supported, a development reflected in DxO PhotoLab 6.4, also released today. As a result, X-Trans images can undergo incredible noise reduction, remarkable detail enhancement, and the restoration of accurate colors, especially when shooting at high ISO levels.

DeepPRIME XD is a more intensive and effective algorithm that delivers more detail and contrast than (the already much praised) DeepPRIME in either high or low ISO images.

Fujifilm GFX100 Discontinued at Some Stores in Japan

Fujifilm GFX100 Discontinued

In Japan, the first stores are marking the Fujifilm GFX100 as discontinued, as reported by the Japanese website asobinet.

The Fujifilm GFX100 was launched back in 2019 and it was definitely revolutionary for its time, with a backside illuminated 102 megapixel sensor and IBIS, giving medium format speed and flexibility unseen until then in the digital medium format world.

But then…

… on January 27, 2021

… just one day after the birth of my son

… Fujifilm launched the glorious Fujifilm GFX100S: much smaller, much cheaper, much better ergonomics (in my opinion) than the GFX100.

The GFX100S was pretty much superior under every aspect to the GFX100, so much so that Fujifilm USA launched arguably their all time best advertising about the GFX100S with the subtle admission that there is almost not point in buying the GFX100 anymore (in addition to give FujiRumors a shout-out ;))

Sales for the Fujifilm GFX100 plummeted after the GFX100S announcement and since 2+ years it hardly sells anymore.

Miraculously, though, Fujifilm still kept producing it (albeit in very limited numbers) and in fact you can find it still in stock pretty much everywhere in USA and Europe. But it seems that this is going to change soon, as Japanese stores are starting to inform their customers that there won’t be any new shipments for this camera.
