Report of Malfunction with Viltrox Lenses after Fujifilm X-T5 Firmware Update but No Problems Reported by Other X-T5 Users

There are reports shared at the Japanese website Asobinet, that Viltrox lenses stop working on Fujifilm X-T5 after the latest firmware update.

A couple of hours ago I asked in our huge X-T group if anyone is experiencing such issues.

Some members tested the new firmware on their Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 and Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 and did not notice any malfunction.

Feel free to drop your experience in the comments down below.

Fujifilm Firmware Updates for Several Cameras (X-T5 included), XF16-55, FT-XH and Promises More Firmware Love to Come in 2024

Fujifilm has released firmware updates for Fujifilm X-T5, X-T4, X-T3, X-H2, X-H2S, X-S20, X-S10 and XF16-55mmF2.8 as well as the Fujifilm FT-XH File transmitter grip.

It’s mainly (but not only) a video centric update and more lenses will get the same update in February (XF16-80mmF4 and XF18-120mmF4).

Moreover, in their recent official X Summit announcement, Fujifilm said they are “currently considering further enhancements“, which I hope will translate also on firmware love for those, who mainly use Fujifilm cameras for stills.

Good news for fellow X shooters from Japan.

After months in which the Fujifilm X-T5 was not available for order, finally Fujifilm opened up orders again. This time for the Fujifilm X-T5 in silver and the Fujifilm X-T5 with the XF18-55 kit lens. The black X-T5 body orders resumed a few weeks ago.

The bad news: Orders for Fujifilm X-S20 are still suspended.

The (Late) Rise of the Fujifilm X-T5 and the Definitive Success of Vintage-Camouflaged Modern Cameras

Just recently Fujifilm started to take orders again on Fujifilm X-T5 in Japan. Not all combos, but better than nothing.

And we saw: the Fujifilm X-T5 instantly jumped into the top selling camera ranking on MapCamera.

Well the same thing is happening at Kakaku, which is a pretty popular shopping aggregator in Japan.

At Kakaku, the Fujifilm X-T5 has climbed the ranking up to the second spot, beaten only by the Nikon Zf.

I own the Fujifilm X-T5 myself and it is a camera I can blindly recommend to everyone. It’s Fujifilm at the next level and a huge upgrade over my Fujifilm X-T4 (which I have sold)!

And quite frankly in my opinion the X-T5 is still vastly the better pick over the Nikon Zf for the reasons I’ve explained here.

The success of the Nikon Zf and Fujifilm X-T5 shows that it pays off for companies to make vintage-styled high performing modern cameras.

Which is why I don’t understand why Fujifilm is no longer offering a retro-styled GFX camera. I am sure such a camera would become an instant best seller.

Oh well, let’s hope in the Fujifilm GFX100SII, which should come pretty soon according to our sources.
