These Guys Left Full Frame Sony, Canon and Nikon for Fujifilm APS-C

Switch to X

Here is a roundup about photographers, who are switching from full frame Sony, Canon and Nikon to Fujifilm X.

Mostly they say that the difference in image quality compared to full frame is negligible. But the difference in ergonomics, functionality, menu system, look, size, beautiful lenses, color science etc is much more significant. These aspects make the real difference and worth it to go with Fujifilm APS-C.

At the end, the most important thing is getting into a system that makes you want to shoot more, and Fujifilm is, for some, the best choice for that. As one of the them said:

There is something about Fujifilm, where they want you to get the most for what you pay for.

And to be clear: if you shoot any other brand, and are happy with it, then you did everything right, and you should not care about what the people below say. You have your needs, and you are right to ignore Fujifilm.

But here we are on a Fujifilm blog, so we talk about people, who shoot Fujifilm.

Fuji Guys Fujifilm X-T4 Unboxing Shows You What’s in the Box and What (sadly) Not

The Fuji Guys published their Fujifilm X-T4 unboxing video. Here is what you find in the box:

  • 2 QR codes (one for manual, one for the camera remote app)
  • Capture One Pamphlet
  • eyelets and leatherette pieces come already attached to the camera
  • nice thick and padded Fujifilm Strap
  • 5 volt 3 amp 5 watt USB-C charging block
  • new Fujifilm NP-W235 battery
  • USB-C to USB-C cable
  • USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter so you can monitor your audio while recording

They also unbox the Fujifilm X-T4 vertical grip, the VG-XT4

  • vertical battery grip

It’s a huge pity that Fujifilm will not include:

  • external battery charger
  • no more Fujifilm EF-X8 Flash
  • if you buy the vertical battery grip, you won’t get 2 additional batteries, like you get it when you buy X-H1
  • you can contemporaneously charge 3 batteries via UBS-C (1 in camera and 2 in vertical grip)

As much as I love you Fujifilm, but the omission of an external charger with X-T4 purchase and additional batteries with VG-XT4 battery grip purchase, is just a bad move. Those things should come in the box.

I did pre-order a Fujifilm X-T4 myself, and of course I added an extra battery to my order. I will also get the external charger.

Fujifilm Statement Following the Postponement of The Photography Show due to Coronavirus COVID-19 Outbreak

Fujifilm Statement following the Postponement of the Photography Show, 14-17 March 2020

Fujifilm Statement following the Postponement of the Photography Show, 14-17 March 2020:

The coronavirus epidemic is a unique situation – and from both a staff and an audience perspective, the decision to postpone The Photography Show is the most responsible decision and one that we fully support.

Through this evolving situation, the health of Fujifilm employees, partners and customers is our primary concern.

While we understand that the photography community will be disappointed, we have been developing our contingency plan for several weeks and we look forward to bringing all of the elements of The Photography Show experience to life over the coming weeks, the schedule of which will be announced shortly.

Fotodiox PRONTO Adapter for Fujifilm X Adds Autofocus to your Manual Focus Lenses

The Fotodiox PRONTO is an adapter, that allows you to add autofocus to a variety of manual focus lenses.

The Fotodiox PRONTO for Sony is on the market since a while now.

Now Fotodiox launched also the Fotodiox PRONTO for Fujifilm X, allowing you to add autofocus to your manual focus Leica M lenses. But if you double adapt the Fotodiox PRONTO to other Fotodiox adapters, you can shoot with a variety of other lens mount types, too. In the video below you’ll see how it works.

Introducing the PRONTO auto focus adapter for FUJIFILM X Series cameras! PRONTO is a Leica M to FUJIFILM X-mount adapter that adds auto focus functionality to your lens right out of the box! Just mount your Leica M lens on the adapter, mount the adapter on your X Series camera, focus the lens to infinity, and press the shutter button.

The adapter’s motor moves the lens forward and backwards to auto focus it on your subject at nearly the speed of a native lens! Just like that, breathe fresh life and functionality into your old and new manual lenses! Add a second optional adapter and you can mount and auto-focus lenses from Nikon, Pentax K, M42, and more.

Compatible Lens mounts (via a second adapter): Nikon F and G, Pentax K, M42, Olympus OM, Minolta MD, Contax/Yashica, Leica R, M39, DKL, and T-Mount

Here are some of the main specs:

  • Add autofocus to your Leica M-mount manual focus lenses; Ideal for 50mm and wider focal lengths
