Adobe is Confused and Promotes Faster Tethering on Nikon Cameras with a Fujifilm X-T20 :)

There is a bit of confusion at Adobe, who, with the launch of Camera Raw 11.2, promotes faster tethering on Nikon cameras using a Fujifilm X-T20 :). Check it out here.

And speaking of PR that goes wrong, back in 2016 Nikon used the Fujifilm X100 on posters to promote the “Nikon heritage”.

Or maybe… is this just another sign that Fujifilm is acquiring Nikon? ;)

On a more serious note, the latest Adobe Camera RAW updated introduced a new “enhanced details” features, which also improves X-Trans file rendering. Huge feedback in the following three articles:

Fujifilm X-T30 vs Sony A6400, A6500 and vs Canon EOS RP, Nikon Z6, Sony A7iii

Fujifilm X-T30 – Fair vs Unfair Comparisons

The Fujifilm X-T30 has been announced yesterday, and hence it’s already time for comparisons… all kind of comparisons, fair and unfair ones ;).

We will compare the Fujifilm X-T30 to other APS-C cameras like the Sony A6400, Sony A6500, Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm X-T20, and then compare it to full frame Canon EOS RP, Nikon Z6 and Sony A7iii.

BHphoto allows you to make your own specs comparisons. All you have to do is to search on BHphoto for a camera and check the box “add to compare” under the product on the search page. You can pick up to four cameras.

Click above to see the unfair comparison (compared to Full Frame), and below you find the fair one (compared to APS-C).

Fujifilm GFX Early Concept Mockups Image Gallery – Current Concepts, Future Reality?

Fujifilm SP-X Tilt Screen

Fujifilm GFX Concepts

At the recent Fujifilm X summit, Fujifilm displayed a modular Fujifilm GFX “Omega” concept, inspired by Hasselblad’s 500-series square format film cameras.

The Omega concept had “direct control for aspect ratio and unusual ‘roller’ style controls“.

It never became reality because of the big shutter mechanism required for the medium format sensor, a problem that could be solved with the global shutter.

Fujifilm displayed even more early Fujifilm GFX concepts at the X summit, such as two X-T camera alike concept and also the progenitor of the current Fujifilm GFX 50R, called Fujifilm SP-X, with sub-ISO dial, a weird tilt LCD screen and no EVF.

Fujifilm’s goal is to create a medium format camera close in size to current mirrorless full frame cameras. Future technology like the global shutter will help to achieve this goal. So the mockups we see today, are Fujifilm’s goal for tomorrow.

You can find the full GFX concept gallery at dpreview.

Lightroom Enhanced Details for Fujifilm X-Trans Files Tested – Fuji Users Beware, Wormy Artifacts Fixed?

Adobe & Fujifilm

Last week Adobe launched the new “enhance details” feature, which, according to Adobe, will improve details in your images by up to 30%!

The feature is also supposed to demosaic Fujifilm X-Trans images better, and we have a first feedback about it here.

The testing continues, and overall will can sum it up like this:

  • helps against wormy artifacts
  • slow and processor intensive, creates new DNG files, hence do not apply to many images, but better select only important images or images you want to print big

Now let’s get into the specific reviews.
