Samyang AF 75mm f/1.8 X Series Cameras Compatibility List (Not for All X Cameras)

Samyang has announced the lovely and compact Samyang AF 75mm f/1.8 X earlier today

But attention: while it is an X mount autofocus lens, it won’t work with all X series cameras.

Samyang says it is will work with X-Trans cameras, but not with Fuji’s Bayer cameras (X-T***, X-A*, X-A** lines).

But that’s not entirely correct, as not all X-Trans cameras are actually compatible. In fact, the X-Trans Fujifilm X-M1 is also not on the list of compatible cameras.

Maybe it would be more correct to say: all the cameras not made by Fujifilm (hence the ones outsourced to the Xacti Corporation), will not worked with the new Samyang.

Samyang has now officially announced the Samyang 75mm AF 75mm f/1.8 for Fujifilm X mount.

The AF 75mm F1.8 X, this new overwhelming lightweight telephoto autofocus lens is the perfect match for the compact and lightweight Fujifilm X Series mirrorless digital cameras.

The AF 75mm F1.8 X offers a full-frame equivalent focal length of about 112.5mm.

This compact & lightweight prime lens offers outstanding performance with Samyang’s advanced optical technology of over 50 years. The 2 HR (High Refractive) and 3 ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass elements of this new AF 75mm F1.8 X provide a stunning contrast and resolution in all areas of the image. This lens does not adopt even a single aspherical glass in its elements so that it can create refined and smooth bokeh.

The AF 75mm F1.8 X is advantageous for video shooting with its reliable autofocus performance and new “Preset Aperture Control” function on the “Custom Switch – Mode 2”. The French website Phototrend has shared additional images and specs about the upcoming Samyang 75mm f/1.8 AF lens for Fujifilm X mount.

  • should offer even better optical performance, since only the center of the optics would be used on Fujifilm’s APS-C cases if this is the case

The Samyang 75mm f/1.8 AF for Fujifilm X will be announced on February 28.

Samyang 75mm f/1.8 AF Additional Details and Listed at Some Stores

The announcement must be very imminent, as FR-readers sent me images of stores already listing the Samyang AF 75mm f/1.8 X on their website (you can see a box of the Samyang above shared at a store).
