IBIS (in body image stabilization) Coming to Future Fujifilm X Cameras – Trusted Source

What Fujifilm Managers Say

I know what you think: “But didn’t a Fujifilm manager tell us in this interview, that IBIS is not compatible with Fujifilm X-mount?”

Yep, that’s true. The manager said:

“Our XF mount is not compatible with IBIS […] the amount of light at the corners is reduced when the sensor is shifted. We could correct it digitally, but we don’t want to do it: we don’t want to compromise our image quality.”

But, well…. today I will tell you a different story…

What Trusted Source Says

The rumor is as simple as that: Fujifilm is right now working to bring IBIS to future X-mount cameras.

The Market Wants IBIS (in body image stabilization)

Just like “weather sealing”, also “IBIS” is becoming more and more important for photographers. Fujifilm’s main mirrorless competitors (Sony, Panasonic, Olympus) all offer IBIS… and it has become a strong selling point!

Now, personally, features like “weather sealing” and “IBIS” are not primary reasons for me to get a camera or not. More important, for me, are lens line-up and ergonomics for example.

But I understand that IBIS can be indeed a very handy tool, especially if you use a lot of old adapted glass and shoot video with OIS-less glass.

So if you ask me, then yes, it’s a good move for Fujifilm to offer IBIS in future.

But Fujifilm has to give us good IBIS that deals very well with the shortcomings the Fujifilm manager mentioned here… and every camera manufacturer is actually dealing the same issues.

NOTE: Canon and Nikon say IBIS works not as good as Lens Stabilization – Read more here.

How Reliable is this News Rumor?

This rumor comes from a trusted source. This is why I personally take no grain of salt at all. I’m 100% sure that these are Fujifilm’s (current) plans.

I also know that Fujifilm can change plans anytime, but I have the feeling that this won’t happen this time.

IBIS will come… and actually, this Fujifilm camera already has IBIS ;)

The Calm before the Storm…

I have the feeling that great times could be ahead of us… and summer holidays or not, I will invest all my best (and my time) to keep you guys up to date with everything. So stay tuned on FujiRumors via Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter.

guest post by John Gallo – fotograficoweb

Boxing is typical Fujifilm X Series fashion, big black elegant boxes, white letters and graphics

The brand new Fujifilm EF-X500 flashgun arrived yesterday straight from Fujifilm Portugal – actually I received a pair of these units. This the first part of a detailed review that I started straight away, after all Fujifilm was missing a proper, professional grade flash system and the EF-X500 promises to deliver.

The first part of this review will focus on the design and perceived quality, first impressions to put it simply and I have to say that straight out of the box the EF-X500 is impressive. Build quality is second to none, Canon and Nikon are clearly overshadowed: touch, materials, dials and buttons are top notch, but flaps and hinges are a step further and there is no sense of fragility whatsoever. These units seem to be build to last forever. They are made in China, not in Japan, but that doesn’t seem to make any difference regarding build quality.

Enjoy the first set of pictures, part two will cover essential features and functions of the EF-X500, soon.

Fujifilm Will Announce a “Never Rumored Before” X-series Camera in 2016!

the-next-fuji-x

The Next Fuji X

Just recently a reliable source broke for us the news, that Fujifilm has still something in the pipeline for this year (2016).

We all started to make our guesses. Could it be the long rumored Fujifilm X-T20 or X100F? Or maybe some new colors for existing cameras, like the dark grey (graphite?) X-Pro2 or silver X-T2? Or maybe a new lens, like the XF50mm? Some also hoped to see the Fujifilm X-E3 become real.

Well, the source just dropped me one more message via rumor box and said:

  1. it will be an X-series camera
  2. this camera has never ever been rumored (and talked about) before

This is the wonderful moment, where we all can start dreaming about the camera we desire (and let Fujifilm know about – you know that they not only read us, but even share our feedback at meetings – see here).

I wish you all a GREAT day :-)

Let There Be Light

It seems that the point has come, where you can’t ignore the Fujifilm X System anymore. Sure, we are still a niche, but a constantly growing one, so it starts to be interesting for third parties to create Fujifilm supported products.

In fact, I’ve just heard from a source, that Phottix, Elinchrom and Godox are all working on Fujifilm X series compatible flashes/triggers. At the moment I have no indication, when the support will be completed, though… but I guess it won’t take that long anymore. Why?

Well, as FR-reader told us in the comments to the big rumor overview, he wrote this comment at the Elinchrom facebook page: “Where’s the Fuji love elinchrom!!!??” Elinchrom liked the comment. And when X-shooter Neil asked if this means that Fujifilm Support is coming in near future, Elinchrom liked also that comment! Maybe it means nothing… or maybe… ;)

And, just a reminder, as rumored here, also Profoto should add Fujifilm support in 2017.

The source (whom I trust) asked me to take it with a grain of salt at this stage… and so I’ll do. As soon as I will be able to confirm it, I’ll let you know here on FujiRumors.

cheers
