Cameralabs published it’s full Sony A6600 review, Sony new flagship APS-C camera with IBIS.

He used both new lenses on the Sony A6600, the Sony E 16-55mm F2.8 G and the Sony E 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS.

Inevitabely, he often compared the Sony A6600 to the Fujifilm X-T3.

Now, I’ll skip the parts, where Cameralabs talks only about the Sony A6600, and highlight down below only those passages, where he mentions and compares it to the Fujifilm X-T3.

Fujifilm X-A7: Face and Eye Detection Quick Test (Coming to X-T3 and X-T30)

Fujifilm X-A7

As we reported here, the face/eye detection of the Fujiiflm X-A7 is supposed to be even better than the one currently available on the Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm X-T30. But don’t worry, Fujifilm will deliver a firmware update to bring them on par with X-A7.

Now Jessops tested the face and eye detection of the Fujifilm X-A7 in quite low light. They say it locked very well even from pretty far away. You can see it by clicking “play” on the video above.

Compared to “other manufacturers” (Sony), they say it performs very similar in terms of locking on and staying locked.

Other than that, they say:

  • big and super bright screen. Similar to mobile phone. Really responsive. One of the most responsive they have ever seen on a camera
  • you have the original menu, but also a smart menu, that brings up your most used features and you can see adjustments on the screen while you make them (including changing film simulation)
  • aimed for people, who want to step up from a smartphone

Btw… did you know the Fujifilm X-A7 comes also in blue? I have found it for you. To see all 5 colors together, check out our facebook post here, or twitter post here.

Don’t forget to:

Fujifilm X-A7 Beats Fujifilm X-T3 Face/Eye Autofocus, but Firmware Update for X-T3 / X-T30 is Coming

Earlier today Fujifilm announced the Fujifilm X-A7, actually a very nice and capable camera. You can see the full X-A7 launch coverage here.

Among the others, the Fujifilm X-A7 comes with an improved face and eye detection autofocus, that, according to information Maarten Heilbron has received from Fujifilm, is better than the one on the Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm X-T30.

This is confirmed also by DPR, who said (also shared in our live blog):

Fujifilm has hinted that new AF algorithms will allow the X-A7 to perform as well or better than the X-T30/X-T3.

The good news:

As Maarten Heilbron disclosed in his Fujifilm X-A7 video shared in our live blogging, Fujifilm told him they will release a firmware update to bring the Fujifilm X-T3 and X-T30 eye/face AF on par with the Fujifilm X-A7.

Now, today Fujifilm also released a firmware update for the Fujifilm X-T3 (ver.3.01 here), but this just fixes a bug, and is NOT the firmware update Maarten is talking about.

FujiRumors already rumored, that Kaizen firmware updates are in the work and ready to be disclosed soon. They might bring AF improvements, as Maarten says, but also other new features, like the “live light trail“, also already available on the X-A7, and of course you can see this feature in action at our X-A7 live blog.

I know that’s a lot of information for our fellow American readers, who just woke up and suddenly have to digest all this info, so make sure to check back our previous articles.

Vote Your Top Value for Money Fujifilm X MILC Cameras

Top Value for Money Fuji X?

I get lots, really lots of emails every month, from people asking me which Fujifilm camera they should buy.

This is a hard question for me to answer, since it is such a very subjective matter.

It’s not only a matter of price and specs, but, especially in the Fujifilm world, also of ergonomics, since Fuji offers so many different styled cameras, that from one side we are blessed with ergonomic choices, but on the other side it makes the choice more difficult as for example in the Sony world, where you get one camera body, that’s it, take it or leave it.

So what I do, is that I can give a general answer on what I consider the best value for money option in the Fujifilm world.

At the time of this post, I usually recommend the Fujifilm X-H1, especially now, where it can be purchased for $999 only with vertical grip and two spare batteries, and you even save more if bundled with the lenses below:

But I wanted to hear what you guys think is the best value for money camera.

In future, when somebody asks me about, I will just link to this article, and say “this is what thousands of Fujifilm shooters think is the best value for money Fuji camera“.

I will keep the fixed lens cameras out of the competition, and I will only list the most modern camera of each camera line.

REMEMBER: it’s NOT a survey about your favorite camera, but a survey about the best value for money camera.

Ready?

Then vote down below.
