Fujifilm Half Frame Camera Mock-ups and Addressing Skepticism

Afters months of remaining unnoticed, FR-reader Mistral spotted the patent for a new Fujifilm digital camera that has to be the long rumored half frame camera.

We reported here.

I have also received emails asking me if mock-ups circulating are real. But I am sad to report they are all fake.

And fake are also all the Fujifilm X-T6, Fujifilm X-Pro4, Fujifilm X-H3, Fujifilm X-H3S, Fujifilm X-T60 rumors and what not.

And just to show you how easy it is to make up realistic looking fake stuff, I have created fake Fujifilm Half Frame images using ChatGPT based on the data provided in the public registration.

Anyway, this gives me the opportunity to address some of the skepticism shared after our previous article.

Seems to big for a 1″sensor

We confirm it has a 1″ sensor. And keep in mind, it is still smaller than the Fujifilm X-M5. And that camera is really small.

There comes a point in which shrinking a camera further probably makes no sense, as it would make it very uncomfortable to handle. I mean, you can shrink cameras, but you can’t shrink human hands. Could Fujifilm have made it smaller? Probably yes. Would it make sense? Maybe not, if you want to still retain some decent ergnomics.

Half Frame is Misleading

Don’t shoot the messenger guys. I just tell you how Fujifilm will market it.

But the fact that it has a vertical LCD is a strong indication that it is indeed intended to work as a half frame camera, especially considering that we have also shared details on how it will work.

If it works as we described, then “half frame” could indeed be a proper term to me.

That’s it from my side… and I wish you an absolutely fantastic day.

Fujifilm Gear Coming 2025 – Updated List and What’s Missing!

Last year we investigated how much gear Fujifilm launches every year (see list below). The result: between 2 to 4 cameras a year and 4 lenses a year.

So let’s see at which point we are in 2025 so far.

Gear (to be) released in 2025

So we have 4 cameras coming for sure in 2025, which matches Fujifilm’s best years in terms of number of cameras released. And while we can always hope for a 5th camera, it is also possible that in terms of cameras, this is all we get. What is sure: the Fujifilm X-Pro4 will not come in 2025.

If you look at lenses, Fujifilm has pretty much consistently released 4 lenses a year. So far we know of one coming for sure, the Fujinon GF32-90mmF3.5, and one being rumored, the Fujinon XF23mm pancake. If Fujifilm were to match the previous years, then there could be still 2 more lenses coming in 2025.

At this point in time, I have no idea which additional lenses could come, but I hope that maybe sources will reach out to us and give us a hint of what’s to come. And if that happens (and if sources agree), I will share it will all of you here on FujiRumors.

In the meantime, these are the lenses the FR community wants based on Fujifilm’s suggestions, and these are the most wanted lenses based on our own mega survey.

Gear released in 2024 – 4 cameras and 4 lenses

Gear released in 2023 – 2 cameras and 4 lenses

Gear released in 2022 – 3 cameras and 4 lenses

About Those Fujifilm X-T6, X-H3S, X-Pro4 “Rumors” and the Truth Behind Them

Fujifilm Rumors

Today I have received what I believe is the 179th message by a FR-reader telling me about massive Fujifilm X-T6, X-H3S, X-Pro4 and more leaks that appear all over YouTube.

And since time is the most precious thing, I will no longer reply individually to those message, but instead I’ll make one single article, this one, and just link it if people ask me about it in future.

So what’s the deal.

Over the last few months tons of videos keep appearing on the internet claiming to have all possible exclusive specs and leaks on upcoming Fujifilm gear. And surprisingly many people take them seriously (and I will explain why below).

But here is the truth: none of the videos you see is real. They are all fake, scripted and created by AI.

Everything they say in them is fake and wrong. The only correct thing in those videos is if AI takes something published on FujiRumors and uses it for its script.

Initially I decided to just ignore them, but the amount of messages I am getting is just too high, so I need to address it once for all.

Look, these guys use AI to create fake clickbait videos and make some money out of your good faith and trust. It’s up to you to decide if you want to reward them for misleading you by watching their videos, or just to straight out ignore their videos.

The true rumors, may them come from FujiRumors or other sources (which we will quote), you’ll always find them here on FujiRumors. You can relax, ignore those videos and just follow FujiRumors.

Why People take these Videos Seriously

I don’t blame anyone for taking these “rumors” seriously—in the end, it’s my responsibility.

Why?

Because over the years, FujiRumors has built a near 100% accuracy rate with rumors.

As a result, people now associate “rumor” with “this must be true.”

The downside? Since our rumors are so reliable, people start believing just every rumor they come across online. Because rumors are usually true, right?

But it’s important to differentiate and consider who is actually sharing the rumor.

But you don’t have to go through the cumbersome process of trying to figure out which rumors are correct and which ones not. Let me just do it for you. If I stumble on something that has some substance, I will share it for you here on FujiRumors and of course give you the source, so you can see yourself who is accurate.

And then there are always our kind sources, who will guide us through the thick jungle of rumors and show us the right path.

So guys, everything you need to know, you’ll always find it on FujiRumors.

Spare your time and use it wiser. I recommend you not to follow those fake channels. Just refresh FujiRumors every now and then. ;)

Fujifilm X-E5 in 2025: The Perfect Dial is…? – VOTE

If you thought the film simulation dial of the Fujifilm X-T50 was a one-time experiment by Fujifilm, then forget about it.

Hate it or love it, it is here to stay and it will be used also on the upcoming Fujifilm X-M5.

Of course the question now is: will there be also other future Fujifilm cameras that will use that dial?

Well, we can safely assume that higher end cameras won’t use the film simulation dial. I simply can’t believe Fujifilm would put one on the Fujifilm X-Pro5 or Fujifilm X-T6 or Fujifilm X-H3 or Fujifilm X-H3S.

But as we can see on X-T50/X-M5, on mid-low end cameras Fujifilm might as well use that dial.

So now the question comes up: will maybe the Fujifilm X-E5 have a film simulation dial, too?

I do not have the answer to that question.

But what I can do until I find the answer, is to ask you which dial you’d like on the Fujifilm X-E5.

I guess the most realistic options are either a shutter speed dial or a film simulation dial.

I don’t believe that Fujifilm would put the very complicated to manufacture and assemble combined ISO/Shutter dial on the X-E5. I mean, I’d be happy to pay the extra price for that dial, since it is my favorite dial offered by Fujifilm. But it would make the camera more expensive and slower to manufacture, which are dealbreakers for Fujifilm, especially considering how disastrous the shipping of the X-E4 was.

Fujifilm must make sure the errors of the X-E4 are not repeated. The X-E5 must be produced in sufficient numbers. And that dial is just too cumbersome to make.

And yet, out of curiosity, I will give you also that dial option to vote on. Just to see if I am the only one who’s in love with that dial or if there are also others who’d pay a bit more for an X-E5 just to get that dial.

I want a Fujifilm X-E5 with...

Fujifilm X-T6 in 2024? Let’s Talk about it!

After I have shared my Fujifilm 2024 – What’s Coming article, lots of you dropped me comments and emails, indicating that there should be also a Fujifilm X-T6 in 2024.

The reason why so many of you believe 2024 will be the year of Fujifilm X-T6, is because the X-T line got refreshed every two years:

  • 2014 = X-T1
  • 2016 = X-T2
  • 2018 = X-T3
  • 2020 = X-T4
  • 2022 = X-T5
  • 2024 = X-T6?

So an X-T6 has to come in 2024, right?

Well, it could be.

I have no rumors telling me it won’t come in 2024. So it’s possible.

But the list above does not really tell the whole story.
