Fujifilm, What’s Really Next?

Time to make a summary of all the future X-series cameras that we rumored here on FujiRumors.

At the bottom you will find a poll, where you can tell us, which of the 10 rumored Fujifilm products you are looking forward the most.

Rumored Cameras

YES: Fujifilm X80 – The Fujifilm X80 has been postponed to 2018. Imagine an X70 with 24MP, and you have the X80. I’m still trying to find out, though, if there will be some changes on the lens.

YES: Fujifilm X-A5 – Yes, they skip the Fujifilm X-A4. Why? You can read it here. My personal guess is that it will probably still have 24MP, but this time with PDAF.

YES: Fujifilm X-T100 – Yep, Fujifilm X-T100. Another entry level camera. Also this one will have a Bayer sensor. And it will have a viewfinder.

YES: Fujifilm X-T2S – This one has a long rumor history already. Here on FR I have shared several specs, that I consider highly reliable. Despite what Fujifilm managers say about X-mount not being compatible with IBIS, the X-T2S will have IBIS. IBIS will work with all Fujinon X-mount lenses. However, as opposed to Olympus & Co, IBIS and OIS will not work together… at least currently that’s not possible. Maybe Fujifilm will tweak the firmware in future. But at launch I don’t expect IBIS and OIS to work together. Also, Fujifilm’s IBIS solution will not allow the sensor shift multishot. There will be design changes over the X-T2, such as a better hand grip. What will not change over the X-T2, is the sensor. The X-T2S will have the 24MP megapixel X-Trans III sensor. Last but not least… when will it hit the market? The release is (currently) scheduled for the first half of 2018.

Rumored Lenses

YES: Fujinon XF18mm F2 MK II – Back in February I have heared that Fujifilm plans Fujinon XF 18mm F2 Mark II lens. It has not yet been included in the official public roadmap. These things take time, as I reported here. In our ultimate X-mount lens poll, the XF 18mm MK II was very high on your wish list, ranking at the overall 5th position out of 30 lenses.

??? Fujinon XF33mmF1.0 ???This is without a doubt the most complicated rumor I have ever worked on, and mainly because Fujifilm has changed plans on this one often. I have written a more comprehensive rumor histroy, with the rise, the fall and the hope about the XF33mmF1.0 here. The latest update I got, is that somebody inside Fujifilm is making pressure to put it back on the roadmap as soon as possible, but at the same time, other people inside Fuji are reluctant. The last time we heared Fujifilm officially talking about the XF 33mmF1.0, was at the TCSTV live stream with Fuji Guy Jerry. I was one of the guys in the live chat, and asked all other X-shooters to spam the comments with XF33mmF1.0 questions, which they diligently made :) . Answering the comments, Fuji Guy Jarry said that an XF33mmF1.0 “would be big and expensive“. Jordan from TCSTV was way more enthusasitc about it, and said “it would be hot“. It’s complicated… some inside Fujifilm are sure it would be a winner, some believe it would flop, because it would be big and expensive. The “fight” is still going on… let’s hope the XF33/1 fans inside Fujifilm will prevail.

YES: The following Fujinon GF Lenses – Here on FujiRumors we leaked the real internal Fujinon GF lens roadmap back in April 2017. It included lenses like the GF 250mm, which was then announced in September and you can see mock-ups here, here and here. So we can be confident that also the other rumored lenses are correct. But note that even the internal roadmap says that on some lenses the final decision has not yet been made. In the internal roadmap we see a GF 35mm F2.8 (mid 2018) and GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5 or GF 100-200mm F4.5-5.6 at the end 2018 (Fujifilm says one of the two. Final decision has not yet been done). Another rumored GF lenses is the GF 80mm F1.4 .
